Campaign: | To encourage others to think twice before having cosmetic surgery |
In 2013 I decided to have cosmetic surgery. The operation was to alter my jaw because I wasn’t happy with my appearance.
Looking back, I wish I’d thought twice before making that decision as there really wasn’t anything wrong with it in the first place.
I also hadn’t realised just how long it would take me to recover.
With the help of Fixers, I want to make other young people aware of the seriousness of cosmetic surgery.
It often isn’t something you can reverse – once it’s done, you have to live with it.
I’m planning to create a film to show women shopping for replacement body parts in the same way as they’d browse for makeup.
I hope it’ll make young people realise that when it comes to a new nose or new lips – there’s no return policy.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:
Lucy Hayward | Justin Lee |
Sam Hull | Portia Atkinson |
Ella Bartlett | Lucy Blain |
Megan Shove | Sian Carney-Paul |
Chloe Richards | Kyle Livingstone |
Chris Newman | Tayler-Jayne Slark |
Emma Mahony | Shannan Louise Cordner |
Sparsholt College
The team at Sparsholt College, where I study Equine Management, support my Fix. They helped provide locations for the filming of my broadcast piece.
Arts University Bournemouth
Students at Arts University Bournemouth are helping with my project. They are making prosthetic noses, ears and breasts for me to use as props in my Fixers film and were happy to be filmed at work to appear in my broadcast piece. I’d like to say a special thanks to Keleigh Thomas, Natalie Bailey and Hollie Dee Bailey - also to Tayler Slark and Brady Lillington for their help modelling the students’ creations.
Staff and students at Bournemouth University are supporting my Fix. A group of students shared their thoughts on cosmetic surgery and Dr Chang Hong Liu, Professor of Psychology, agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast piece.

My Fixers project is complete!
The film shows a group of young women shopping for replacement body parts in the same way as they’d browse for make-up. Eventually, one of the characters is pressured by her friends into getting a new nose, only to realise after her decision is irreversible.
I hope my campaign will remind others that cosmetic surgery should never be taken lightly and is a permanent decision.
