Name: Seana O'Connor
Age: 18
Year of the Fix: 2014
Location: Enniskillen, County Fermanagh
Campaign: To show young people that taking on new challenges can boost self-esteem

About four years ago, I started getting really bad migraines, which resulted in me having seizures.

In and out of hospital, I lost a lot of weight and my confidence dropped. I didn’t feel like it was me anymore and was very down on life.

But I regained my self-esteem after entering the Miss Ulster competition last year, after which I was signed up as a model.

With the help of Fixers, I’m making a film to show other young people how taking up new challenges can help you become more confident.

My message to others: don’t hold back in life and go for what makes you happy. You never know what you might achieve or how it could make you feel.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Annika Latimer

Aiden Cliffon

Radheya Mansel

Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health

Emma Weaver, Peripatetic Manager at the organisation, supported the Fix by appearing in my broadcast film.

Judith Grey, Former Miss Northern Ireland

Judith supported my project by providing an interview for my broadcast film on ITV News.

March 2014

I've received some wonderful feedback after my story was featured on UTV Live. Take a look below!

Julianne: ‘I think your message is so uplifting. I'm sure your story will have a positive impact wherever it’s told. You really are an inspiring young woman.’

Michelle:  ‘I think you are an amazing young lady and I know I'm not on my own thinking this. You are a true inspiration to young people. Keep going lady because we need more ambassadors like you for the youth in our community.'

Robert: ‘The next problem is merely another opportunity. Keep right on believing!’
