Campaign: | To make people aware of the plight of young carers |
As a young carer, I know what it is like to have to try and balance school, home and a social life.
I care for my mum who has multiple sclerosis and chronic fatigue syndrome, and I find that people don’t really understand how much I have to cope with.
My worry is that some young people might not even know that they are carers at all, and those that do often don't know where to go to find support.
I and a group of others from Swindon Young Carers have made a short film and a resource pack to help other young people like us.
We hope our project will also improve understanding among teachers and other young people, as well as inspire them to recognise when a young carer might be struggling to cope.
Thank you to Rozee Wick for helping me with this Fix.
Swindon Young Carers supported our Fix. They helped us with filming locations, getting our resource into schools and in preparing our final booklet - 'A-Z of Young Carers'.

Two years after I started my Fix, I was featured on ITV News West Country (E) to speak about my Fixers campaign. You can click here to watch the full piece.
I feel really great about what I've achieved, and I'm not ashamed to say I'm a young carer any more.
