Campaign: Encouraging more young people to become organ donors

My mum passed away a couple of years ago. Her name was Holly and she was quite ill from birth with a serious asthma condition.

After her death her eyes were donated to assist others with poor eyesight, which helped three people.

Seeing the impact this made, my team and I want to encourage more youngsters to get themselves on the organ donor register.

There is such a need for this and we feel that young people may be less aware of the issue than other age groups.

With the help of Fixers, we’re making a film to show just how important it can be.

The aim is to get other young people to actually understand the process of organ donation instead of being put off by it. They need to know that it can save lives.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Jackie Mclarty

Joe Church

Jonathan Thompson

Kieran Forbes

Kyle Low

Lewis Ford

Marcus Fender

After being featured on ITV News, our story appeared on the Border Telegraph website. Click the link to read the full article.

I've also had some really great feedback from people who saw my film on social media.

'Thank you for understanding the need for organs!'

'Being an organ donor is such a great thing to be part of. I signed up to be an organ donor about a month ago and I don't regret it.'

'I really hope this makes people join the donor list. I think a lot of people would be willing to donate their organs but just never get round to registering.'
