Name: Emma-Rose Holley
Age: 18
Year of the Fix: 2013
Location: Newport, South Wales
Campaign: To celebrate natural beauty and help young women feel content with the way they look

Throughout my life, I have been bullied about the way I look. People have made comments about my size and I’ve been called ugly.

I try not to pay attention to what people think or say about me. I will look, dress and be who I want to be.

I want to help other young people feel comfortable with their appearance. Girls don’t need to hide behind a lot of make-up. I think they look prettier without it.

With the help of Fixers, I’m going to be creating a film to celebrate natural beauty.

I hope it will educate young people about self-image and help them understand that there is so much more to a person than the way they look.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Kayleigh Wheeler
Chloe Chapman

Charter Housing
Charter Housing support my Fixers project. They liked my film so invited me to show it at an event they were involved in organising in December 2013.

Full Circle
Nikki Giant from Full Circle has been supportive of my Fix. She loved my film, saying it portrayed a 'brilliant message.' Full Circle provides training, workshops and resources to tackle issues affecting young people and their wellbeing. She is now looking at whether my resource can be incorporated into some of her workshops and youth programmes.

December 2013
My film was screened at an event held at Bron Afon Community Housing in Cwmbran on 3rd December. There were around 100 people in the audience including young people and youth workers from Newport Youth Service, other Fixers and their families and representatives from Bron Afon and Charter Housing associations.

During the event two other Fixers films were shown and a campaign to end child poverty in and around Newport was launched.
