Campaign: Giving advice and support to young people coming out

Coming out can be a difficult process, so we want more help to be available for anyone who needs support or advice.

We don't think there is enough help out there for LGBTQ young people who need someone to talk to.

Although I had support at home, people who I thought were my friends stopped speaking to me after I told them I was gay.

I was also bullied pretty badly at school. It got to a point where some of my bullies threw a bottle of juice over my head. I got into a fight over this as well; there is only so much someone can take.

I think that more needs to be taught in schools about the LGBTQ community, so we can educate people in putting an end to ignorance.

My team of Fixers and I want to create a website where young people can go and find out more about coming out.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

Adam Alevi

Gavin Copland

Joe Shaw

Lizzi Hawkins

Robert Smith

Sally-Ann Robinson

A special thank you to the following youth workers at Leeds City Council, who supported our Fixers campaign by running the group LGBTQ sessions:

Kevin Donnelly

Stacey Robertson

Amanda O’Toole
