Campaign: Giving job opportunities to young people

It is very hard for young people leaving school, college, and university to find a job today. There are so many people competing for so few roles that even gaining work experience is tough.

 

That is why, with the help of my friends, I am establishing a functioning theatre group to give youths in my town something which may enhance their CV.

 

We have already scripted a play and have cast the acting roles. But life in a theatre goes beyond the stage, and we have a variety of roles for people backstage.

 

Employment opportunities in Norwich are very limited. By creating this theatre group, and by staging our play, we are allowing people to gain experience in event planning, management, costume making, props, front of house, marketing, and finance.

 

Ultimately, we hope to help other young people expand their portfolios, improve their CVs, and aid their job-seeking efforts.

Norwich Theatre Royal
The Norwich Theatre Royal supports my Fixers project. They have given us details of work experience opportunities for young people.

 

Somewhere To
Elly Wilson from Somewhere To supports my Fix. She is going to help us arrange free rehearsal, meeting and performance space so we can continue to move forward with our project. She is also able to help us with the contacts we'll need to make our business official and get funding.

 

The Garage, Norwich

The Garage is a local arts venue that supports my Fixers project. It is where we will hold our first short performance.

We performed our play for the first time. Here was some of the feedback:

Our Fix was featured on Radio Norwich 99.9FM, encouraging people in the Norwich area to come out and attend our theatre performance (free admission) at the Garage.
