Name: 'Milly'
Age: 17
Year of the Fix: 2013
Location: Anglia
Campaign: To stop people taking Mephedrone

I was only 14-years-old when I first tried Mephedrone. Soon after, I was hooked.

‘Meow Meow’ – which is another name for Mephedrone – changed my life. I dropped out of education, and even attempted suicide.

When I first tried the drug, it seemed great. But quickly it became an addiction which resulted in a host of problems, from paranoia to self-harm.

I decided I must stop. I moved to Anglia to seek help and quickly began recovering. Now, at 17-years-old, I no longer use the drug, and am getting my life back on track despite daily difficulties.

But I do not want others going through what I went through. There are no resources out there for people who are taking ‘Meow Meow’, and this is what I am changing with my project.

With the help of Fixers, I am creating an app which gives people facts, figures, and information on Mephedrone, as well as how you can stop taking the drug.

My Android app is now complete and ready for use. I hope it will show young people that experimenting with “Meow Meow” has consequences, and encourage those who are already taking it to seek the help they need to stop. Click here to get the app.

The film about my campaign, which was broadcast on ITV News, was among nine Fixers films which won a Mind Media Award.

I have had positive feedback about my resource so far, below are some comments I have received:

'The app is really good. I want to take it on board and get to use it with the young people that I work with.'

'I thought the app was fantastic and I can’t wait to get online when I get home and have a proper look.'

'I think it's great that young people have access to check out all the scenarios that they might come across and play them out in a safe environment.'
