Name: Joshua Wilson
Age: 16
Year of the Fix: 2012
Location: Sheffield
Campaign: Green in Shiregreen

Many people don't care about the communities in which they live. I want to bring my area of Shiregreen back up to the vibrant place it should be, free of all fly-tippers.

By doing litter-picks and poster campaigns I want to change mind sets, as my local area has been ruined by people not caring about where they live.

I took part in a mass litter-pick around Concord Park and Woolley Woods, which has developed into a bit of a community eyesore. But we need to carry on and keep the good work going.

My long-term Fix is to cut the amount of fly-tipping and bring my local area back up to its former self.

I have lived in Shiregreen all my life and wanted to do something that would make a positive change for the area.

Doing something in the community is really uplifting and is something that I would like to carry on for the rest of my life.

I want people to stop fly-tipping and want to launch an on-going campaign around the issues surrounding it, perhaps through a poster campaign.

There is no point in cleaning it up for it just to be messed up again.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:

Sanctuary Housing

Sanctuary is the UK’s leading provider of care, housing and community services.

The not-for-profit organisation is backing our campaign and working in partnership with Fixers to help support young people across the country address the issues they want to fix.

With over 94,000 units of accommodation across England and Scotland, Sanctuary believe that building strong communities and inspiring people to make a real difference is as important as providing them with a home.

June 2013

I was invited to attend a special employee event at Sanctuary Housing’s headquarters in Worcester on Monday 24th June, where Sanctuary staff members were able to meet a number of Fixers.

It was a great opportunity to present my Fixers project to the audience of 30 employees, which included some senior management as well.
