Campaign: | To bring segregated young people together |
In May 2010, I had a big birthday party for my 16th birthday. After a long time organising, over 600 people attended and it was a brilliant event with no trouble.
After this, I was approached by a few people and told I have a skill in organising these events. So I thought about it, and I decided to put this skill to use by holding under-18 parties and events for people who otherwise feel segregated in my community.
I gathered together a small team and met with Fixers to get my events project rolling. We then decided to do a big U18s club night and to hold it on GCSE results day, calling it 'GCSE Summer Extravaganza'
We got the DJs, special guests, and lots of free goodies for people who attended - all for £6 a ticket, of which all the money was donated to Cancer Research, Sickle Cell, and Street Children. Over £2,500 was raised.
