Name: Kirsty Gaunt
Age: 16
Year of the Fix: 2012
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Campaign: Safe sex among young people

Everyone is taught about sex from an early age, but no one seems to fully understand the dangers that sexual activity can bring, particularly in relation to sexually transmitted infections.

One of the biggest is Chlamydia. I often hear people just joking about this and many other infections, as if it is all a bit of fun.

But some infections can seriously damage your health, and your relationships. Yet a lot of the time the infections are so easy to cure, if only people would open up about their sex lives a little more.

Myself and 12 other friends decided we would produce a film to educate young people about how easy it is to keep your sexual health in check.

Beyond this, the ‘Spread the Word’ film has gone on to be shown to over 6,000 pupils in local schools, and has premiered to an audience of local figureheads and community members.

Thanks to the following people for helping me with my Fix:

Charleine Sherratt Charlotte Ferry
Chris Nixon Haleema Wazir
Idris Alshariff Jade Wahrsley
Keiran Mear Larissa Surridge
Macauley Howard Megan Finch
Natasha Brereton Windsor Tan
