| Campaign: | We felt so strongly about young people drinking too much that we ran our own campaign! |
I live in Stratford-Upon-Avon, Shakespeare’s birthplace, and it is a beautiful place to be. However, as soon as the night comes, it’s a different story and the whole atmosphere of the town changes. People get so drunk that they’re being sick in the streets, fighting, getting arrested – it’s horrible!
I, along with some of my fellow media studies students at college, decided to do something about it and to try to raise awareness of Alcohol consumption across the country.
We started by producing branded bottles of water with our ‘Monster Hangover’ logo on them and we handed them out at as people were starting their nights out in town. We hoped that people would take the water and not only would the branding remind them not to drink so excessively, but it might dilute their alcohol consumption throughout the night.
We also went on to produce two films for our campaign which highlight the relationships a lot of young people have with alcohol.
Our message is easy – we don’t want people to stop drinking alcohol, we just want people to be sensible with the way they drink.
