Growing up as a young carer was tough. I didn't have the best childhood because of everything going on at home.
Both my parents needed help and I had to grow up fast.
I had great support from the charity Crossroads, but at secondary school I don't think teachers fully understood the responsibilities I had.
There were times I needed to leave the classroom and take a phonecall about my parents, but the teachers wouldn't let me.
I have designed a wristband for young carers. It's reversible so they can choose whether to show the words 'I Am A Young Carer' or change it to 'Awesome, Confident, Legend.'
I hope it helps teachers recognise who might need a bit of help and understanding in the classroom.
Thank you to the Colyer Fergusson Charitable Trust for supporting me with this fix.
