Campaign: To increase the public's understanding of Asperger's Syndrome

I was diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum when I was seven and now live with Asperger’s Syndrome. 

 

It means I have difficulty with social interaction and in certain noisy, busy places I can suffer from sensory overload. It can be very scary.

 

But it also means I can focus very intently on things. My music is really important to me and I use my extreme attention to hear different bits of audio very precisely – things that a neuro-typical person may not be able to hear.

 

There is no cure for Asperger’s Syndrome but if there were, I wouldn’t want it. Yes there are negatives, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives once you learn your coping mechanisms. They can help you achieve great things.
