Zahra Dadd

Zahra Dadd

Name: Zahra Dadd
Age: 25
Year of the Fix: 2017
Location: Birmingham
Campaign: To encourage people with more than one culture to celebrate their heritage.

I’m from a British Pakistani background. Growing up in a predominantly Caucasian area of Birmingham was a challenge, especially at school.

It was difficult to mix in with the other kids because I felt different to them. It got to a stage where I had to try and assimilate and hide my Pakistani heritage to be accepted.

But over time I questioned why I was concealing part of myself which I should be proud to share with others.

I’ve made a film with Fixers showing that no matter if you have a hybrid culture, it’s important you celebrate your differences. It doesn’t make you less British.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:

Serena Arthur

Jumoke Richards

Harun Mohammed

Saffiyah Khan

Abian Richards

Charlotte Richardson
