My son Jacob was born three months premature when I was 19.
The medical care he received was absolutely brilliant and although it was touch and go for quite a while, he’s now a healthy little boy fast learning to walk.
I did however feel that emotional support was lacking for me as a mum, both while Jacob was in hospital and afterwards, when he came home. I could really have used someone to talk to about my negative feelings. Eventually I was diagnosed with post-natal depression.
Fixers has helped me create a booklet for parents who find themselves in a similar situation to me.
I want to give mums and dads some practical advice and, through my own experience, to let them know that they’re not alone.
