Campaign: | To challenge preconceptions about albinism |
We were born with a type of albinism called Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1b with nystagmus which means we don’t have the full blown white hair and pale skin but we do have the eyesight connotations that goes with it, so we have about one third normal vision.
It was hard at first, we felt a bit down about it because we were being picked on because we couldn't see, but there was nothing we could do about it.
We’ve made a documentary-style film with Fixers to raise awareness about our eyesight and the challenges we face for the general public and potential employers in particular.
We’ve proved that we’re more than capable of doing what normal sighted people can do because we've both achieved degrees.
Donna McNicholl, from RNIB, supported us with this Fix.
