Campaign: | To get young people to talk about their mental health |
I was diasgnosed with psychotic depression two years ago, but I've had symptoms since the first year of high school.
At first I felt down and depressed and gradually over the years this built up and I started having more psychotic symptoms, like hallucinating.
I was prescribed medication by a doctor and started seeing a psychiatrist. I spoke about all the issues I had and things started to get better.
When my emotions are all over the place it's like being inside a big bubble that's invisible to everyone but me.
I know how hard it is to be honest about how you're feeling, so I made a film with Fixers to let people know that it's okay not to be okay and encourage them to open up.
The following Fixers helped me with this Fix:
Stephanie O'Connor
Natasha Houston
Aiden Campbell
Lee Malcolm
The JMA Trust was set up in 2015 in loving memory of John Maurice Aitken who sadly lost his battle with cancer in 2013. The Trust aims to carry on his legacy of supporting those in need by providing support and advancement in the form of grants to groups and individuals in Scotland who are in need of help and assistance in the areas of health, education, unemployment, public participation in sport and poverty. The Trust endeavours to create positive opportunities for beneficiaries by improving health and wellbeing, and by easing the burdens associated with hardship by allowing recipients to achieve their aspirations.
Sarah Stow from Falkirk Council also supported me with this Fix.
