Campaign: | To get cheerleading taught in schools |
I started cheerleading when I was at university - I found out about it at the fresher's fair and I've stuck with it ever since.
I coach a cheerleading team that draws its members from all across Mid-Ulster. I've seen how good cheerleading is for people's confidence, socialisation and physical health and find that it often appeals to people who wouldn't normally be drawn to traditional forms of Physical Education (PE).
If it was introduced into the school curriculum it would be amazing - I think it would help young people feel more comfortable and encourage them to work as part of a team.
The following Fixers helped me with this Fix:
Niamh Marshall
Francesca Bradley
Maria McAllister
Faolan McGuigan
Aisling Daly
Glen Lindsay at Cookstown Leisure Centre, Mark McCullough at Rainey Endowed School and Pat Hawkins at the UK Cheerleading Association, supported me with this Fix.
