Campaign: | To encourage young people to follow their dreams |
Lots of our friends at university were miserable and saw themselves heading down very mundane routes.
We wanted to ask the question ‘why is it that society forces people to forget their dreams and aspirations as kids?’
So we interviewed young people about how their lives had panned out after they followed someone's advice, rather than their dreams.
With Fixers, we made a documentary about it, with interesting results.
Some had become unhappy in their careers, and only began to pursue what they were passionate about much later in life.
We hope the film will inspire people to do something that makes them happy.
The Arsenal Foundation uses the power of football and the Arsenal name to inspire and support young people in north London and across the globe.
Just knowing Arsenal cares can be a huge source of motivation for young people facing difficulties in their lives.
Locally, the club supports a wide range of community and charitable projects, from helping to refurbish football pitches on estates and schools around Emirates Stadium to bringing together survivors of torture for football coaching, English language lessons and therapeutic support.
Internationally, the Foundation has raised over £1million for its global charity partner, Save the Children. Projects include education projects in Indonesia and China whilst other donations have been made to support emergency appeals such as the typhoon in Philippines, the Ebola crisis and the Child Refugee Crisis.
In 2016, The Arsenal Foundation and Save the Children combined to build football pitches in camps for internally displaced people in Iraq, to give boys and girls fleeing war a safe place to play, and the chance to be children again. More football projects are planned in Indonesia, Jordan and Somalia.
What unites the projects supported by The Arsenal Foundation is the belief that young people can thrive with the right support and the knowledge that Arsenal is behind them.
