Year of the Fix: 2016
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear
Campaign: To raise awareness of sexual exploitation

I have made a film with Fixers and a group of young people from Newcastle to raise awareness of sexual exploitation and challenge stereotypes.

People often assume that it's older men exploiting young girls, but that's not always the case. We wanted to show that someone of a similar age can exploit you and that males can be victims of sexual exploitation too.

The film is shown from the perspective of friends of people in exploitative relationships. If exploitation is happening to you then you won't always realise it, but you do notice when something is wrong with a friend.

We hope to share the film in schools and hope it will encourage the friends of people in that situation to report it to an appropriate adult.

The following people and organisations supported me with this Fix:

NHS England North (CSE)

Sandra Adams and Katie Smith from PROPS North East

Lee Peacock from The Children's Society

Sir Charles Parsons School
