Name: Catherine

Year of the Fix: 2016
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Campaign: To teach children about their 'private parts'

When I was 11 I was sexually abused by an adult who was looking after me.

At the time, I didn’t know who to tell and the abuse continued until the perpetrator moved away.

I’m now a mum, and I don’t want to see the same thing happen to my son.

So with Fixers, I’ve created a colouring book to help children learn about their ‘private parts’.

It’s a simple colouring book which teaches children that their ‘private parts’ belong to them and that no-one else should see or touch them.

I hope that it will be used by schools, doctor’s surgeries and libraries to help parents teach their children what is right and wrong.

Barker-Mill Estates

The Barker-Mill Estates consists of land owned and managed by the Barker-Mill family and its Trustees, covering particular areas in Hampshire. In 1995, the Barker-Mill Foundation was established in memory of their father and grandfather, Peter Barker-Mill.

Each year, the Foundation makes donations to charities, schools, organisations and individuals in the areas where the family has owned land for generations.

The Foundation is backing my campaign and is working in partnership with Fixers to give young people in south west Hampshire the chance to make a difference.
