Campaign: | To show the impact cyber bullying can have on young people |
I’m a youth theatre director and I’m concerned about the growth of online bullying because I’m seeing younger people come in every week with these smart phones with access to the internet and social media.
I want people to realise that what you say online does have a bigger effect than what you think.
It’s really easy just to type something about someone and press enter but that message can cause the victim to feel like their identity is being attacked.
With Fixers, I’ve directed a play about this issue showing the impact of online bullying, which can range from young people losing self-confidence to, in some severe cases, having suicidal thoughts.
I hope my projects goes some way to making people think twice about what they post online and dissuades them from getting involved in this cruel behaviour.
