I’ve been a young carer since my dad was involved in a car accident nine years ago that left him with life-long health problems.
Being a young carer has had a massive impact on my life. I have to administer my dad’s medication and take him to medical appointments.
Caring for my dad can have a detrimental affect on my education and social life. At times the responsibility can be emotionally tough and stressful for me to cope with.
I feel many young people don’t recognise they’re a young carer as it’s just a normal part of their family life.
Fixers have helped me to produce a poster that I hope will help other young people identify they are young carers and signpost where they can get help.
