I was in a mentally and sexually abusive relationship for two years.
I didn’t notice what was happening to me, it really was a case of, ‘love is blind’.
I wasn’t allowed to go out or to see friends. My boyfriend broke me down, made me feel worthless and I lost my confidence.
There’s a lack of understanding about what abuse is. People automatically think of physical abuse but there are other forms in relationships too, like psychological and sexual abuse.
I want other young people to realise that any form of abuse in a relationship is unacceptable.
Hopefully, by educating other young people who have little experience of being in relationships, I can help them to recognise the signs of a controlling relationship.
