Name: Lucy Edwards
Age: 20
Year of the Fix: 2016
Location: Birmingham
Campaign: To help young children understand visual impairment

I lost my eyesight when I was 17 and initially felt anxious and unable to cope.

However, my guide dog, Olga, has since helped me to regain my independence and confidence.

I currently produce a vlog to tackle misconceptions surrounding vision loss, but also want to do something to help primary school children better understand the topic.

With Fixers, I’m planning to use Olga to connect with pupils by writing a book based on her thoughts and feelings as a guide dog.

I hope this will help them recognise and understand when someone has a visual impairment.

Oliver Cave is helping me with this Fix.

Rory Cobb, Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)

Rory Cobb supports my Fix. He agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast film.
