Name: Gareth Chandler
Age: 20
Year of the Fix: 2015
Location: Annaghmore, County Armagh
Campaign: To help young people with alopecia to get support

I developed alopecia at the age of seven. It’s a condition that makes your hair fall out.

When I was younger it didn’t really bother me, but I gradually became more conscious of it.

I remember going to the GP, who said that it was just one of those things and I wasn’t offered any support.

At school, the other children would ask “have you got cancer?” which made me feel quite low.

Now, I’ve embraced who I am and have been able to take control of my condition.

With Fixers, I’m working on a short animated film to raise awareness of alopecia and to help others find support.

Helping Alopecia Trust

Chairman Gareth Long and Co-Founder Stuart Long support my Fix. They agreed to be interviewed to appear in my TV film.
