I have Tourette’s syndrome which causes me to tic. This means I make sounds and movements that others might consider strange.Trying to suppress these tics is incredibly difficult. It requires a lot of concentration and can be physically exhausting. It feels as if there’s a pressure building up inside my body, until I can’t keep it in any more.I don’t think others really understand this. With Fixers, I want to show people what it’s like to physically struggle against a disorder that can be socially awkward.Hopefully this will help them to empathise with – and not fear – those who have it.
SimplyhealthMy Fixers project is supported by Simplyhealth which helps people care for their everyday health through health cash plans, dental plans and independent living solutions.
With over 140-years of history in the healthcare market, the organisation is working in partnership with Fixers to help support young people to have their voices heard on the subject of mental health.
