I wear a niqab and have experienced hate crime as a result.
I’ve had people shout things at me and I’ve even had someone try to pull off my veil. It makes me feel vulnerable.
I don’t believe that anyone should be subjected to this sort of abuse, whether it’s based on religion, sexuality or disability.
People should stick together and stand up to hate crime when they see it happening.
We shouldn’t let it go unchallenged.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Stevie-Jade Hardy, University of Leicester
Stevie-Jade Hardy, a Lecturer in Hate Studies, supports my Fix. She agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast piece.
Anna Parr, Leicester City Council
Thanks to Anna Parr, a Youth Involvement Worker, who has supported me through this project by helping to arrange my broadcast piece and providing transport.
