Campaign: To help teachers understand the challenges faced by young carers

We are a group of young carers and we know how difficult it can be to juggle school or college work with responsibilities at home.

 

These extra duties can mean we can't always complete assignments on time and to a high standard.

This was something that I struggled with while caring for my dad and my marks weren’t always that good.

But when my teachers found out about my caring role, I was given extra time for my work, which made a real difference.

With Fixers, we've helped create a film to show teachers the challenges faced by young carers.

 

We hope it will encourage them to offer extra support and flexibility in the classroom.
