Campaign: | To urge employers not to write off job applicants with dyslexia |
I have dyslexia, a condition that affects the way I read and write.
As a result, I’ve found the process of getting a job difficult, as filling out application forms is a challenge.
It can be hard for dyslexics to express themselves in writing, so employers will often only get a glimpse of their potential when they first apply for a role.
With Fixers, my team and I want to encourage employers to be supportive and understanding of people with dyslexia, taking the time to really find out the skills and value they can bring to the workplace.
Kieron Melley and Lauren Kennedy have helped me with this Fix.
John Hollis, Employment Services Consultant at Working Links, has supported this campaign. He’s helped us to find work and set up meetings to get our project started.
