Campaign: | To promote diversity within media industries |
Within the UK there are people of many different cultures and races, yet I don’t think this is adequately reflected in our media.
I believe there is a real lack of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) individuals working both in front of and behind the camera.
According to research published by Creative Skillset in 2012, only 5.4% of workers in creative media industries are from ethnic minorities – which I don’t feel is enough.
Friends of mine, who want to become actors, hold themselves back because they’ve been made to believe it won’t happen.
I’m hoping to reach those high up in the media industry. I want them to recognise that BAME young people aren’t well enough represented and this needs to change.
*NOTE: Fixers sometimes go beyond the 16-25 year age bracket while working on their Fix.
