Campaign: | To challenge negative attitudes towards those receiving benefits |
I think there are some people that believe that everyone who’s on benefits doesn’t want to work. They just assume you’re lazy, when this really isn’t the case.
There can be the attitude that people on benefits should take any job, but I want a job that will make me feel valued and I found that even though I was willing to gain the necessary skills to achieve this, I was met with negativity.
I believe that young people deserve the chance to have some stability in life – jobs that last longer than a couple of weeks and roles that suit them.
With Fixers, I want to encourage others to be less judgemental of young people on benefits - instead supporting their aspirations.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Jessica McDonagh | Anthony Boddy |
Zoe Alton | Gemma Slater |
Stewart Coates | Dominique Dillon |
Lisa Grayson | Ryan Davies |
Affinity Sutton, one of the largest housing associations in England, is backing our campaign.
With over 57,000 homes and a 100-year history, the charitable organisation is working in partnership with Fixers to help support young people across the country to address the issues they want to fix.
