After a relationship breakdown, I found out what it was like to be homeless. I felt isolated and alone, discovering that many people don’t actually understand what homelessness means.
I’m concerned that people’s awareness of homelessness tends to be limited to those they see sleeping on the streets. They don’t always recognise the vast amount of hidden homelessness that exists.
Sofa surfing, even when you stay with family or friends, still means you don’t have a home.
With Fixers, I want to raise awareness of this issue, encouraging others not to judge those that don’t have anywhere permanent to live, because it can happen to anyone.
I also want to show those who are sofa surfing that it’s okay to go out and ask for help.
