Name: Bethany Watson
Age: 16
Year of the Fix: 2015
Location: Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria
Campaign: To highlight the importance of learning first aid in rural communities

I’m from the small market town of Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria and my friend Gina Thomas is from Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales.

Living in rural communities can present challenges, especially in the event of an emergency.

As our nearest hospitals are a fair drive away, we’re working with Fixers to encourage other young people to learn first aid.

We think the moments before the emergency services arrive can be crucial, so it’s important people have an understanding of what to do.

We want to make sure young people are equipped with the knowledge they need to help others and potentially save lives.

Gina Thomas is helping me with this Fix.
