When I was growing up my mum always read to me so I was sad to learn that many children don’t have access to books and bedtime stories at home.
Reading can really benefit a child. It can boost their confidence as well as improving their literacy skills.
With Fixers, I've helped create a poster to encourage more adults to read to children. You can see it here.
I hope it will help them realise how enjoyable it can be to pick up a book – so that it’s something they’ll keep on doing.
Beanstalk The team at Beanstalk, a charity that provides volunteers to help children with reading, supports my Fixers project. Greg Yarnall, Area Manager, agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast piece.
Action For Children Jane Pitchfork, Children’s Centre Manager at Action for Children, supports my Fix. She was also interviewed to feature in my TV item.
Northamptonshire Libraries The team at Northamptonshire Libraries have given their backing to my project. Josie Lewis-Warren, Library Manager, arranged for us to film my broadcast in a local library.
July 2015 My Fixers poster was launched and displayed at Northampton’s Cineworld.

I’ve received some really positive feedback about my poster. You can read some of the comments below.
‘It looks amazing! I noticed it when they put it up and I thought what a great poster it was – good job!’
‘It’s a wonderful design and it’s really bright. It’s important that young children spend more time reading as it’s important they grow up being able to read. What a great idea.'
‘It’s really great. It’s good that people are taking an interest in making sure that kids are able to read as lots of kids don’t, unless they’re at school.’
