Amethyst

Amethyst

Name: Amethyst Saynor
Age: 21
Year of the Fix: 2015
Location: Sheffield
Campaign: To help adults better understand mental health conditions in young people

I was bullied growing up.

I began to lose confidence in myself and felt isolated and undervalued – which eventually led to depression.

Dealing with a mental health condition is hard enough, but what makes it even tougher is being misunderstood by adults, who can sometimes dismiss it as teenage angst or think it’s just a phase.

With Fixers, my team and I want to educate medical professionals, decision-makers, teachers and parents about mental ill health in young people.

We hope to help them realise that it is a serious matter, so that others like me feel more able to seek the support they need.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:

Foyez Syed Fran Critchlow
Isaac Walker Lucy Groves
Rebecca Batley Shane Camm
Stacey Hanson

Isabella Ashton-Meredith

Timothy Hanstock

Siobhan Garnham-Parke
