Campaign: | To encourage young people to take up pole fitness |
Becoming a mother at the age of 16 was a huge change for me. I felt alone and worried about the future, and my confidence had hit rock bottom.
Then, I discovered pole fitness at university, and it had a massive impact on my life.
There are many negative stereotypes associated with the activity, but it requires dedication and can really boost your self-esteem.
I found it helped to ease my anxiety by giving me something to focus on, and my fitness improved at the same time.
My Fixers project is to encourage other young people – especially young mums – to give pole fitness a go.
Hopefully others can then experience the emotional and physical benefits it has to offer.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Beth Smith
Caitlin O'Connell
Chantell Robertson
Deana Lee
Isabelle Crossland
Jodie Miller
Remi Parkin
The team at the studio support my Fixers project. They allowed us to film there. Pole fitness teacher, Eve Anderson, also featured in my TV piece.
Youth Association South Yorkshire
My Fix is supported by the Youth Association South Yorkshire. Vicky Gough, Young Women's and Youth Work Training Manager at YASY, agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast film.
Paulina Rreunus also supported my project. She took part in a pole fitness class that I helped to organise. It was filmed for my broadcast piece.
