When I was 8, I was abused by my mum’s partner for three years.
At first, he made me think he wanted to be my friend. He was taking me out and buying me expensive gifts.
But it began to get a bit more sinister and after a year of gaining my confidence, the physical abuse started.
I knew it was wrong, but he’d always said he’d hurt my family if I told anyone – my mum knew nothing about it.
He’d manipulated everyone but eventually he was caught and sent to prison.
With Fixers, I want to do all that I can to protect other children and young people from abuse. No one should have to go through what I went through.
I’m encouraging single parents to approach new relationships with caution, considering carefully who they allow into their home.
Rebekah Bowman is helping me with this Fix.
PROMISE Mentoring and Advocacy Ali Hart from PROMISE, an organisation that supports young people in Somerset, is supporting my Fixers project. She agreed to be interviewed to appear in my broadcast piece.
