Campaign: To promote traditional Scottish music in the Highlands

Ever since I started playing the fiddle at the age of ten, I fell in love with traditional Scottish music.


Made up of disciplines including bagpiping and Gaelic dance, it’s a huge part of Scotland’s national identity.


Unfortunately, I think it’s being overshadowed as young people look to more modern forms of entertainment.


In a bid to keep this tradition going, however, I recently formed the Caledonian Ceilidh Trail.


The voluntary project gives young people aged 16-25 a chance to audition for a band and become a touring musician for three weeks a year.


With Fixers, I have made a film, which covers a performance by this year’s successful candidates, who played at the Belladrum Festival in Inverness.


I hope by highlighting the importance of preserving Scottish music, future generations can help to keep this heritage alive.
