I’ve always loved bats and think they’re fascinating.
Sadly, many people are afraid of these nocturnal creatures, often associating them with superstitions, disease and scary films.
In actual fact, UK bats are quite clean and harmless animals and do a lot for the environment, which many people aren’t aware of.
My Fixers project is to try to debunk common myths about bats and shake off the negative stereotypes they have acquired.
Hopefully more people will begin to appreciate these incredible mammals and help to protect their numbers in the UK.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Rich Flight, Ecologist
Rich supported my Fix appearing in my broadcast piece to provide key details about bats.
Sally Bowes, Bat Handler
Sally also featured in my TV story and gave us close-up access to some Egyptian fruit bats.
Clare Dyson from Mosaic supported my campaign by putting me in touch with Fixers.
