I struggled with mental illness throughout my teenage years and into early adulthood and during that period experienced some of the darkest times of my life.
I didn’t have a proper understanding of mental health then, and feel that if I had, I might have known to ask for help sooner.
With Fixers, my friend Alice, and the rest of my team, I want to raise awareness of mental health issues so others have a better chance of knowing when they need to seek support.
I want young people to speak out about their feelings, knowing that they aren’t alone and that recovery is possible.
Here is a list of Fixers helping me with this Fix:
Laura Rose Goddard
Plymouth and District Mind The team at the Plymouth branch of the mental health charity, Mind, support our project. Sharon Claridge, Operations Manager, agreed to be interviewed to appear in the broadcast film about our Fix.
Routeways Kathy Taylor, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Participation Worker and Routeways Equality and Diversity Officer, supports our Fix. She’s given us her backing throughout the process and has provided us with places to meet.
Marine Academy Plymouth Staff and students at Marine Academy Plymouth support our Fix. Pupils from the school appear in the broadcast piece about our project, watching our Fixers film and offering their feedback on it.
