Campaign: To increase support for young people living in rural isolation

Many people’s idea of rural bliss would be living in the Highlands of Scotland.

The views are amazing, there’s all sorts of wildlife and everyone is really friendly.

However, for a young person like myself, there are a number of issues coming from such a remote part of the country.

Transport links are often poor, school takes most people no less than an hour to reach and socialising with your friends is almost impossible because nobody can get around.

With the help of Fixers, my team and I have put together a film looking at some of the challenges young people face.

We hope our campaign will make decision-makers understand that life can be tough here and a little support can go a long way.

Here is a list of Fixers helping me with my Fix:

We have received very positive feedback for our Fixers campaign.

The more people watch and share our video, the better our chances are of raising the profile of the issues that young people in the Highlands face.

Here is some of the positive feedback we have received about our Fix:

'I'm a proud Highlander and even though I fight to keep young people in the Highlands, I too will be moving away hundreds of miles from my home for my education. Well done to everybody involved in this video. It's so important that decision-makers start to recognise and acknowledge the issues that come from living in the most remote parts of the country. Love the film!'

'There are some very good points here. Let's hope someone helps and gives the young people of the Highlands the chance to stay there in adult life - to prosper and thrive in their own community without having to move.'

'This is a well made film! Good luck to all the young people in the Highlands. It's a good healthy environment, it would be a shame if they had to leave for the sake of work.'
